Genetic Services Staff
|
Brenda Finucane, MS, CGC is a certified genetic
counselor who serves as Elwyn's Executive Director of
Genetic Services. She is widely published and has
gained national recognition for her expertise in the
behavioral and cognitive manifestations of genetic
syndromes. Ms. Finucane serves on the scientific
advisory committees of several genetics support
organizations and is currently an elected board member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
For over two decades at Elwyn, Ms. Finucane has worked
to create practical services which address the
educational, behavioral, and health needs of
people with genetic conditions. |

Mary Delany, MS, CGC is a certified genetic
counselor who provides diagnostic and counseling
services for individuals and families enrolled in
Elwyn's Pennsylvania programs. She works with
consultants from area medical centers to evaluate and
address families' concerns about the cause of a
relative's disability. Ms. Delany has developed a
special expertise in Prader-Willi syndrome and provides
ongoing consultation to Elwyn's community homes for
adults with PWS. |

In addition to her work as a behavior specialist and
teacher for school districts in the Allentown, PA area,
Barbara Haas-Givler, MEd, BCBA serves as a
consultant to Genetic Services at Elwyn. She has over 30
years' experience in special education, serving in many
different capacities over the course of her career,
including classroom teacher, administrator, educational
consultant, and behavior analyst. Ms. Haas-Givler has
authored several publications on topics related to
genetic syndromes and frequently presents at local
and national conferences. |

Elliott W Simon,
PhD is a licensed psychologist who serves as Elwyn's Executive Director of Clinical
Services. Dr. Simon works closely in an administrative
and clinical capacity with Genetic Services. His main
areas of interest include developmental disabilities and
psychiatric disorders, particularly behavioral and
cognitive profiles of genetic syndromes. Dr. Simon
has published on a wide variety of topics related to
intellectual disabilities, including facial emotion
recognition, memory, quality of life, and the practical
applications of genetic diagnosis.

Shannon Nelling works as a part-time office
assistant for Genetic Services. She has become an
indispensable member of our Genetics team, working hard
to make sure that mailings and correspondence go
out on time. In her free time, she enjoys shopping,
taking walks, and doing crafts.
